Since the 1960s, Swedish family policies have encouraged parents to share their parental obligations equally, and in 1980s joint legal custody became standard after divorce or separation. Mothers as well fathers are expected financially provide for take part everyday care fostering of child. This study explores how single parenthood, non-residential co-parenting play out become conventionalized daily news this national context. The material consists articles that mention parenthood “the other parent” from four most widely read newspapers published period 2010–2019. analytical focus has been on written language what is spelled out, alluded ignored, dominant less representations. results show there contrasting depictions mothers fathers. While mother a parent, co-parent parent overall represented good attentive, father more split figure. He recurrently comes across absent negligent but committed involved primary with residential custody.
